Surfboard Fin Tab Moulding Table

To finish the surfboard fins, I needed to make a jig that would allow me to make and attach fin tabs to the bottom of the fins. The reason you have to cut and form the fins without the tab is due to the cant (angle) that you need the fin tabs to be in order to work properly. The angle changes based on the type of fin so the moulding table also needs to have a support to set the same exact angle on both fins. I based the design of the table off of a YouTuber called Wave Wasters. He has a fairly informative video of how to make a moulding table. However, I noticed one main issue with the design/how to video. He doesn’t explain where to place the cant support and from the video it looks like his is slightly set back from the two openings for the fin tabs. If you don’t make the cant support directly adjacent to where the fin sits, then you will not be able to get an accurate angle for the tab. I still need to pour the moulds for the tabs themselves and then once those are done I will adjust the cant support to match up with the flat side of the fins.

Other than that one issue, his video and method is pretty good. I made the table out of scraps in the 4th floor makers space and it was a rudimentary build so I finished it in about an hour. I did not have T-nuts like he recommends so I just used screws, however I need to adjust the cant support anyways. When I adjust the cant support I will also install t-nuts to set the cant support at the correct angle. I also need to finish the actual fin tab moulding using silicone to match the tabs on the fins that I have.
